If you have ever wondered which is the healthiest type of meat you can choose for your diet the answer is obviously chicken. Among all the different meat types the chicken contains less fat than any of them.
Sadly, this is not always true. A research conducted by scientists from the Institute of Brain Chemistry and Human Nutrition at London Metropolitan University proves that nowadays chicken meat contains the staggering 266% more fat and the unhealthy 33% less protein than it did four decades ago.
This increasingly disturbing abnormality in chicken meat is caused by our modern day farming methods. Instead of naturally breeding and feeding our poultry with chemical free food we tend to spoil it, motivated by consumerism reasons, by pumping them up with all sorts of supplements.
Another disturbing side of the story is that we, regular consumers, can do very little about this issue. We can only try to the best of our ability to spend less on unhealthy fat-rich meat and more on natural born and raised poultry.
