We all have heard of perfectly planned and organized robberies, and have seen movies where burglars act professionally and use great gadgets and tools to realize their plans. And while such professional burglars really do exist, there are also less successful criminals whose incompetence borders on comedy. In 2009, around Halloween, Joye Miller and Matthew McNeely decided to break into an apartment in their hometown in Iowa. The town is really small with a population of just 10,000, so as you can imagine, people can easily recognise each other’s faces and cars. The burglars were quickly arrested and to the surprise of the police, had “disguised” themselves with black permanent marker on their faces. Keeping in mind it was Halloween, they certainly could have found proper masks without any problems, but perhaps didn’t think it was worth the trouble.
