If you’ve been on the rumour mill over the last couple of months then you may have heard that Eddie Redmayne was to be cast in the upcoming prequel to Harry Potter, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them’. Well, you can stop your speculating, as it has now been confirmed!
Eddie Redmayne has previously won Oscars and is set to be Newt Scamander in this new film, which is a prequel to the world famous Harry Potter series.
If you’ve watched the Harry potter films carefully then you may have noticed that Newt Scamander has featured in one of the films, as the magizoologist with the textbook that he’s written, ‘Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them’, which Harry and his friends at Hogwarts use.
The film follows Scamander as he’s travelling the magical world whilst recording his findings in this textbook.
Warner Bros. used Twitter to confirm the speculation around this, as Greg Silverman, the president of creative development praised Eddie Redmayne’s acting:
Eddie Redmayne has emerged as one of today’s most extraordinarily talented and acclaimed actors.
This is actually J. K. Rowling’s first screenplay that she’s done, and if you’re a fan of the Harry Potter series, you may know that David Yates directed the final four films, and he’s also going to be directing this new film written by Rowling.
There are also other members of the Harry Potter production team, including David Heyman, a producer, Steve Kloves, who did the scripting of 7 out of 8 of the films, and Lionel Wigram who was involved with the franchise of Harry Potter, will be the executive producer.
If you can’t wait to watch this magical and exciting film, then you’re going to be disappointed, as it’s not set to come out for another year and a few months, with it’s release date for 18th November 2016 in 3D and IMAX!
