Watch the video of two airplanes getting struck in mid-air by a huge lightning during a storm.
If you thought flying was frightening, watch how these two planes get struck mid-air by a lightning. Afterwards you will probably stay away from any aircrafts for the rest of your life!
Owen Craft, who is a student at the University of Washington, wanted to film a lightning storm. Thus, he was filming the sky over Seattle, Washington, US, on the 1st of April this year during a lightning storm. Somehow he ended up catching the terrifying sight of two aircrafts getting struck by a lightning on his camera. Owen couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the first plane getting hit, but when he saw what happened to the second one, he already knew he had caught “something spectacular” on film.
The airplanes were identified as Alaska Air flights – the first one was flying en route from Orange County to Seattle, while the other one was flying from Houston to Seattle. Both planes were about to land at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport when they got hit by the lightning. One of the passengers, who were flying from Houston, spoke to the media about the experience of it all. He stated that he had seen the lightning strike one of the plane’s wings and shared that some of the passengers were terrified that the strike could have affected the landing. Fortunately, that didn’t happen.
Both planes landed 100% safely at the Seattle-Tacoma airport. Official reports state that aircrafts are built in such a way that lightning strikes don’t affect them, because such things happen often. Furthermore, a spokesperson for the Seattle-Tacoma airport stated that the pilots, who were flying the struck planes, had made any alerting reports and nobody got injured mid-air or during the landing.
