Experts claim that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and most people are well aware of that. However, making the right food choice is even more important than simply putting something in your stomach. Here is a list of what to avoid in order to feel good during the rest of the day.
1. Bacon, ham and sausage
Meat in general is not necessarily bad for you but processed meat especially contains nitrates which are directly associated with colorectal cancer.
2. Sugary cereals
Instead of having a bowl of cereal full of sugar and carbs which would spike your blood sugar level and then bottom it out, you should opt for a cereal with walnuts and ground flaxseed for higher fiber and more protein.
3. Packaged pancakes with artificial maple syrup
Natural maple syrup is healthy but the artificial equivalents on the market are mostly made of high fructose corn syrup. According to experts the consumption of high fructose syrup is linked to abdominal obesity and diabetes.
4. Light yogurts
Although low in calories, light yogurts often contain artificial sweeteners and chemicals.
Packed with lots of sugar, butter or oil and white flour muffins can hardly count as a healthy breakfast choice. If you can’t resist the craving for sweets go for a big spoonful of honey instead.
