This American man is working 6 days a week as a car salesman in Wyoming, US, although he’s already 100 years old!
Derrel Alexander made his very first car sale back in the late 1940s and he’s still working the very same thing he has worked his whole life, even though he’s already a centenarian, who celebrated his 100th birthday earlier in March this year.
Mr. Alexander started his career in 1949 in an auto shop in Caper, Wyoming. He witnessed the gas rate change from 17 cents a gallon to todays’ hefty prices. He witnessed tons of incredible things and he still lives to tell the tale. Furthermore, he still lives to tell customers which car is the best one for them. And apparently, everybody values and loves him for his honesty. Mr. Alexander himself claims that he has missed a number of sales just because he was too honest, but he doesn’t really care about it. He claims he has lived a happy life and thanks “the man upstairs” for living to celebrate his 100th birthday, which was hosted at the Whites Mountain Chevrolet. The man goes to work 6 days in the week and claims that he doesn’t mind working at such a great age. In fact, he believes that working is the thing that keeps him going.
When speaking to the local media, Mr. Alexander shared that the key to his long life was his work. He stated that working as an active salesman at the Whites Mountain Chevrolet auto shop gives him a reason to wake up every day and get out of his home. He also said that if he had retired, stayed at home and watched TV, he wouldn’t be here to tell his story right now.
The store’s general manager stated that Mr. Alexander is an inspiration to everyone and that even though he’s working just out of habit, his work is still giving him purpose in life.
