Have you ever wished to read a book after watching a movie or an animation based on it? It is actually quite a normal thing to want to read the original when you like an adaptation. Another related practice would be to read the original story before making the very adaptation… a thing, which obviously hasn’t occurred to the minds of the Disney directors and screenwriters who have worked on The Jungle Book.
Reading the original Rudyard Kipling story, we get to see that the snake Kaa is not only a good fellow (and not one of the antagonists), not only a mentor for Mowgli as important as Baloo, but Kaa also saved the main character’s live on a very special occasion! Having read this, we can’t help but wonder what made the production committee agree on making the snake as evil as it is in the final version of the movie.
