Did Taylor Swift copy Britney Spears’ iconic Toxic and Womanizer videos in the video to her new single Bad Blood? Everybody seems to think so.
Imitation is considered as the highest form of flattery. Unfortunately, nobody likes copycats and by the looks of it, Taylor Swift just became one.
Ever since the video for her new single Bad Blood hit the Internet on the 17th of May this year, everybody has been going crazy over the fact that Swift copied Britney Spears and her iconic looks from two of her greatest hit music videos. Throughout the video for Bad Blood the 25 year old Swift can be seen in various outfits engaged in super-hero training in order to defeat her enemy. Swift’s fierce look of fiery revenge, however, appears to be nothing more than a sad copy of Britney Spears’ foxy redhead character in her iconic video for her 2003 song Toxic. The flaming hair, the black leather outfit, the explosions and the massive amount of black eyeliner scream three things – “Britney”, “unoriginal” and “copycat”. The character, on who she’s seeking revenge, is portrayed by Selena Gomez. The whole scene between Gomez and Swift is just taken out of Britney’s video for her song Womanizer from 2008 – from the office setting to the clothing attire and the hairdos.

It all could have been well, if Swift hadn’t copied some other original ideas portrayed on the big screen as well. Her video for Bad Blood is stacked with scenes from Tron: Legacy, Robocop, Sin City, Kill Bill and other iconic movies.
Throughout the video for Bad Blood Swift and a whole entourage of stars like Ellie Goulding, Karlie Kloss, Kendrick Lamar, Lena Dunham, Cara Delevingne and Cindy Crawford can be seen acting out various scenes from other movies. The video was shot by Joseph Kahn, who also worked on Swift’s video for Blank Space. At least the latter one turned out more original than this one.
