Did US’ President Barack Obama lie about Osama bin Laden’s death?
Ever since Osama bin Laden’s terrorist organization al Qaeda was blamed for the attacks on the US, which took place on the 11th of September 2001, the US government has looked for him high and low. In 2011 Barack Obama announced that there was a $25 million reward for bin Laden’s head and he promised the citizens of the United States that taking out the terrorist was the American government’s first and foremost security priority. In May 2011 the White House made a public statement that their Navy SEALs had managed to successfully track down Osama bin Laden and have shot him to death in Pakistan.
However, 4 years after Obama made that announcement, a journalist claims that the US President lied about bin Laden’s death. The journalist and Pulitzer prize winner Seymour Hersh claims that the president lied about the events surrounding bin Laden’s death in order to make himself more glorious, reliable and promising just so he could win another term at the presidential office. According to the journalist, some unknown source contacted him and revealed that Obama kept some secrets about the terrorist’s death and made up some details. One of the made-up things allegedly suggests that there was no firefight when bin Laden was tracked down. Another false claim is that bin Laden was buried in the sea.
According to Hersh’s source, he was buried in Afghanistan. Hersh also claims that Osama had been held as a bargaining chip by Pakistan ever since 2006 and he wasn’t in hiding at all. He also states that even though the White House’s official statement stated that the Pakistani military forces helped the US government catch bin Laden, Pakistan’s forces actually played another role in the mission.
So, what really happened in May 2011?
