Probably better known to most as starring in RoboCop and Buckaroo Banzai, Peter Weller is actually a man of many different talents. He was born in Wisconsin to Dorothy and Frederick Weller, who was a judge and helicopter pilot for the US Army. With his father flying around the world, him and his mother travelled along, getting to live in many different areas, which meant he’d gone to school in Germany, San Antonio and then University in North Texas, during his teenage years.
In his younger years Weller graduated from a degree in Theatre, and that was where he began his career. Since then, he has been in a number of different stage performances, as well as being in over fifty different films and TV series! His talent doesn’t stop there though, as he has also directed a few different television programs as well.
However, in 2004, Weller wanted to take a different route. He decided to do a master’s in Roman and Renaissance Art at Syracuse University, where he successfully graduated. He also decided that a master’s was not enough, and that he would teach at the university, with courses such as ancient history. His education didn’t stop there though, as he then went on to get a Ph.D. in Italian Renaissance art history at UCLA, where his doctorate was conferred.
Definitely no quiet life for Peter Weller, but maybe after marrying his girlfriend in 2006, at the age of 59, that was the time when he decided to take a break from work and learning.
