Usually, once we’ve died, the task of sorting out where we go is left to our relatives or friends. Apart from giving general instructions, the rest of the plans are undertaken by them, and part of who we choose is that we trust them to do as we wish. However, Nicolas Cage has decided that he doesn’t want his grave to be left to chance. He’s already bought a pyramid shaped mausoleum in a graveyard in New Orleans.
It would also seem that Cage has some kind of fascination with New Orleans as he’s already bought other properties there as well including the LaLaurie Mansion, which is thought to be haunted, and a Chapel. However, in 2009, during a tax problem, both of these properties underwent foreclosure. That’s why he bought his tombstone.
For obvious reasons, it remains empty with a stone pyramid measuring nine feet high, and stands out against all the other graves which reside in that specific cemetery. Despite not having his name and dates inscribed on the stone yet, it does have the motto ‘Omni Ab Uno’ which translates to ‘Everything from one.’
When asked why he decided to have this done he did not comment, but the New Orleans locals are not to happy with what has been done and they are just as surprised he was even able to purchase one in the cemetery. The installation of this tombstone has also received accusations that it has been put in place of other burials and damaging even more. However, although the public may not like it, it seems that it is there to stay, and they can’t do much about it.
If this were me, I’m not sure if a big contrasting nine foot pyramid would be what I stuck in the middle of a cemetery.
