Zach Galifianakis didn’t take a girlfriend to ‘The Hangover 3’ premiere in May 2013 but a woman he once saved from homelessness. Elizabeth “Mimi” Haist was working at Fox laundry back in 1994 when Galifianakis started his Hollywood career. The two met at the laundromat and became friends. Eventually, the actor stopped going to the laundromat and lost track of Elizabeth but two years ago he found out she had become homeless. Galifianakis tracked her down and got a one-bedroom apartment for her so she would have a place to stay. The ‘The Hangover’ star also pays Elizabeth’s bills and utilities and got actress Renee Zellweger, who is a good friend of his, to help decorate the place. The two actors also make sure there is always food in Elizabeth’s refrigerator.
As it happens ‘The Hangover 3’ premiere is not Elizabeth’s first red carpet event. Galifianakis also took her to premieres of ‘The Campaign’ and ‘The Hangover 2’ , all of which Elizabeth has really enjoyed. She has shared that going to such a glamorous event and riding in a limo has fulfilled an old dream of hers.
