The cocaine baron was out on the run with his family one night when his daughter Manuela suffered hypothermia because of the cold. As the whole family was hiding up in the mountains where the temperatures were really low, the only way to warm the girl up was to light a fire. The only thing was they didn’t have any wood so Pablo Escobar decided to use dollar bills instead. He burnt about $2 million for a single night and also used the fire to cook food. These facts have been revealed by Escobar’s son, Juan Pablo Escobar who changed his name to Sebastian Marroqumn after his father’s death, in an interview for Colombian magazine ‘Don Juan’.
Sebastian Marroqumn also described the last days of Pablo Escobar when the whole family was hiding from the authorities. The security-mad king pin will move his family around their town of Medellin, Colombia every 48 hours using a different secret location each time. With the help of US military forces the billionaire was hunted down and shot dead in December 1993. When he was at the top of his power in 1989, Forbes ranked him 7th among the richest man in the world. His fortune was estimated to $28 billion.
