Professional Hollywood actors are known to be able to handle intensive physical conditioning with ease when it comes to “fitting” into a special movie role. Changing your outer appearance is one thing but the actor Tom Hardy had to discover there are some things the gym just can’t possibly alter that easily. Putting on the extra weight for his role as Bane in the Batman movie “The Dark Knight Rises” in 2012 was one thing but he had to deal with something else.
He had to ask for help from the costume designers because the studio bosses wanted the Bane character to be able to look the caped superhero in the eye. Unfortunately, Tom was much shorter than Christian Bale so he had to put on special customized shoes with a built-in 3 inch platforms. Not only that but he also had to wear a one-of-a-kind voice box that altered his voice and made it more fearful. Tom’s part in the movie was not his first experience under the direction of Christopher Nolan as he previously took part in Nolan’s “Inception” movie.
