Three roommates living in the US, Reese Werkhoven, Lara Russo and Cally Guasti, thought they were getting a great bargain out of an old Salvation Army sofa they bought for $55 from a charity shop. Little did they know the sofa was actually worth a much, much more.
Reese found it strange that one of the pillows was looking oddly lumpy, so he opened up the cushion zip and found a little fortunate stacked in there. The three students continued searching through the sofa and they quickly found themselves buried in $40,000 all hidden in a series of bubble wrap envelopes. The students couldn’t believe their eyes. After taking a series of photos with the banknotes they thought they should track down the sofa’s previous owner. It turned out a 91 year old widow had donated it to the charity shop.
The students returned the money to the old lady, but kept the photos as a reminder. They were screaming so loud when they found the money that their neighbors thought they had won the lottery.
