John Kerry, George Bush, William Howard Taft and lots of other privileged Yale alumni have had the opportunity to become part of a secret society known as Skull and Bones. And of course, all secret societies have a special lair. This one, however, has a whole private island.
Deer Island, one of the Thousand Islands near Alexandria Bay in New York, is owned by Skull and Bones. It’s a small island that’s used for initiations and getaways for the members of the society. However, even though the above listed names create the prejudice that the island hosts fancy holiday houses, the atmosphere is a rather disturbing one. There’s not much information about what exactly is going on there, but there are reports about many ruins of burned cottages and savage flora. There’s one cottage that’s still standing, but it doesn’t look picturesque or presentable at all.
Deer Island is still a mystery to those who aren’t part of the Skull and Bones – just like the society itself.
