One former Apple fan claims that his old iPhone 5 “wiped away” his entire life.
There’s no doubt smartphones have made our lives easier in these past few years. We can basically do anything on them – from staying in touch with the people in our lives to entertaining ourselves and even to working. But what happens when you trust your contacts, your pictures, your work-related files, your personal data and everything else with your phone?
One 68 year old man named Deric White, trusted his beloved iPhone 5 with his life and after the phone malfunctioned the man felt as if it “wiped away” his whole life. Deric had stored so much information, such as contacts and videos from 15 years ago on his smartphone that it seemed like the iPhone carried memories from most of his lifetime in it. It malfunctioned and Deric took it to a local Apple Store. Unfortunately, once the phone was reset, the device immediately formatted everything the man had stored on it. The 68 year old man hadn’t backed up the data in his phone, so he lost everything he had put in his phone’s storage space. Deric claims that his wife was brought to tears after he told her the unfortunate news and that since he believes it’s Apple’s fault that he lost the precious photos and videos from his honeymoon, the tech giant should pay for a second honeymoon.
Deric and his wife are demanding a cool £5,000 (approximately $7,500) from Apple for their faulty phone and for the fact that the staff at the Apple Store Deric went to didn’t ask him if he had backed everything up before somehow wiping everything off the smartphone. Apple, on the other hand, has refused to pay the man and his wife.
