Take a look at this guy – he took a proud selfie with the cop, who arrested him for DUI!
Gilbert Horace Phelps is making headlines and it’s all for the wrong reasons.
The 20 year old Phelps from Iowa, US, was pulled over by a police officer in the wee hours of the night earlier this August because he was going over the speeding limit and because the vehicle had an obstructed registration sticker. The cop, who pulled him over, claimed that he could smell alcohol coming out of the car’s cabin. Surprisingly enough, the Breathalyzer showed that the guy was sober, even though he failed other sobriety tests. At the end, the cop took him to the local police station and that’s when things got even stranger.
Phelps allegedly admitted that he had smoked marijuana before he got behind the wheel of his vehicle. After further examination, the police ruled that the 20 year old was utterly stoned. Furthermore, Phelps also proved this statement by asking to take a selfie with the officer, who had arrested him for DUI. As it turned out, the officer was more than willing to pose for a selfie and he even gave a thumbs up for the picture as the stoned Phelps smiled widely for the camera. It wasn’t long before Phelps’ DUI selfie went viral on the web and started making headlines at various news agencies.
The official police report states that Phelps originally intended to take a Snapchat selfie and that the cop, who has been identified as Ben Hektoen, obliged to the guy’s request immediately. Regardless of the hilarious selfie, at the end of the day, Phelps still had to face the consequences of his actions and he received chargers for driving under the influence.
