Zilla van der Born spent 5 weeks with her boyfriend at home. However, the rest of the world thought she was traveling South-East Asia and visiting temples, snorkeling in crystal clear waters, sunbathing on white beaches and exploring the culture of the natives.
Zilla is a graphics student in her 20s from Amsterdam, Netherlands. She wanted to prove to the rest of the world that we’ve started manipulating the virtual reality to such a point that it’s no longer a reality. Models are no longer the only ones getting a huge Photoshop makeover and Zilla wanted to prove her point to the rest of the world. She used Facebook and her friends list as a messenger and filled her friends’ newsfeed with all sorts of amazing pictures from her “holiday”.
The reality? Zilla took photos of herself sitting at home or striking poses against her wall and then Photoshopped herself on other images. The only real image was from a Buddhist temple, which is actually located in Amsterdam and not in Asia.
