A great number of people from all around the world listen to a noisy, irritating buzzing sound over and over again on a radio station believed to be transmitted from somewhere in Russia. Ever since the early 1980s the radio station has been transmitting these noises accompanied with some names and numbers from time to time. Up until recently nobody knew the origin and the reason behind these transmissions.
UVB-76, also known as the most mysterious transmission in the world, is believed to have a Russian origin. Back in 2010 the location of the transmissions was believed to be a town called Povarovo near Moscow. It appeared that the signals were being transmitted from an abandoned military base, but it turned out there was nothing there. Still, that location didn’t answer the big questions – who is standing behind UVB-76 and why? The names, the numbers and the strange messages along with the buzzing noise surely have a meaning for somebody.
Most likely UVB-76 is used by federal agents, spies or scientists who use the buzzing noise in order to prevent random people from eavesdropping on their strange sort of communication.
