The ultrasound is a great way to see what your baby looks like before it’s born. However, this kind of technology provides only visual images – you can’t actually touch or hold the embryo. And this is where Katie and Gerard Bessette come in handy.
The US couple are starting a business called 3D Babies, offering future parents the chance of a lifetime. 3D Babies are actually life size replica models of unborn embryos made with a 3D printer. Mr. and Mrs. Bessette are offering mini, medium sized and life sized versions of embryos, which are modeled with the help of a 3D ultrasound image and the 3D printer. However, the couple’s services don’t come cheap – the 3D babies cost from $200 to $400. In order to fully launch their business, the Bessettes have to get their hands on the Stratasys U-Print SE Plus 3D printer.
Would you buy a replica of your unborn baby? Do you find the couple’s idea appealing or repulsive?
