What is the average lifespan of your light bulbs? Two months? Three months? How about a century?
Back in 1901, one incandescent 60 watt light bulb was installed in a fire station in Livermore, California. Ever since then it has been burning bright night and day providing light for the firefighters. The light bulb’s installment date is unknown, although it’s usually celebrated on the 18th of July. This incredible bulb has made it into the Guinness World Records as the longest burning light bulb in our history. Apart from several power blackouts, the light bulb has had only 22 minutes of rest. It had to be reinstalled in another station back in 1976. Since there was a possibility that it might break if it was unscrewed, its cord had to be severed and the bulb had to be escorted with a fully armed police squad.
Nowadays it’s still shining bright at Fire Station No. 6.
