There is nothing more annoying for a regular car driver than getting stuck behind a huge vision-blocking slow-moving truck on a two way road. But here’s a truck bearing the impressive name of Shockwave which you’ll never get stuck behind.
Shockwave is famous for being the world’s quickest jet-engine truck. It can reach the astonishing speed of 376mph. It’s powered by 3 commercial jet engines which generate the impressive 12,000 horsepower each. The truck is so fast that you can outstrip a Japanese bullet train with not effort whatsoever. Shockwave can cover 1/4 of a mile for about 6.5 seconds. The 36,000 horsepower jet engine which is described as a “beast” can consume up to 180 gallons of fuel for a single run. In order to make a full stop the tuck uses two military parachutes. When they are deployed they take you from positive 6G after the acceleration to negative 9G when stopping. It all happens in a split second which guarantees a unique experience for whoever is brave enough to be driving.
The Peterbilt Semi weighs about 4 tonnes and is was rebuilt by his owner, the 64-year-old Neal Darnell with the help of his son Chris. The legendary Shockwave was initially created in 1984 by Les Shockley and you can check it out at special shows organized around the U.S and Canada.
