Serious correspondence between Miley Cyrus and the Irish singer Sinead O’Connor have been going one in the media lately. It was O’Connor who started it all posting an open letter to Miley online where she advised the 20-year-old star that her behavior and recent outrageous performances would lead to no good. Presumably, O’Connor felt the need to write the letter because of Miley’s stating in Rolling Stone magazine that O’Connor’s hit from the 1990s ‘Nothing Compares..” was her inspiration for the video of ‘Wrecking Ball’. The Irish singer was rather well-meaning and pointed out that Miley was too talented to rely on provocative performances to get noticed and that she shouldn’t let the entertainment industry exploit her.
However, Miley didn’t take kindly to O’Connor’s sincerity at all. The ex-Hanna Montana posted a few quite insulting Tweets on her account commenting on O’Connor’s mental health problems in the past. Miley also made fun of O’Connor’s willingness to write her long letters stating that she was too busy herself to do that as she had a Saturday Night Live performance coming up.
O’Connor was disgusted by Miley’s rude remarks regarding her mental health. The Irish musician stated that Miley’s words were insulting not only to her but to all people who have suffered. O’Connor also wrote that she would hold Miley legally responsible if she didn’t remove the mocking comments straight away.
