Long before James Cameron made Titanic a blockbuster people all around the world were talking about the giant passenger liner that didn’t make it through its maiden voyage.
Masabumi Hosono was 41 years old when he booked a second class ticket for Titanic from Southampton, UK. During the ship’s sinking Hosono was ready to leave behind all hopes of surviving the nightmare and seeing his family and friends once again. However, he managed to get on a lifeboat and it wasn’t long before he came to return to his home country. At first the man’s story wasn’t hit material according to the local media, but once it was published and his photo was in the newspapers, the man gained wide recognition in the media.
Unfortunately, that didn’t do him much good in Japan. The media, the public and even his own family and friends alienated from him and dubbed him a coward. According to them, he should have died bravely with the other passengers.
