Taylor Swift just made an extremely generous donation of $50,000 to an 11 year old fan that has leukemia.
A decade ago Taylor Swift was still trying to break into the country music industry. Nowadays she’s the role model of countless youngsters from all across the globe. Her singles are circling on every radio station, her concerts are sold-out and her every move is widely covered by the media. The 25 year old singer is considered as being one of the most influential celebrities of this decade and there’s a good reason why.
Apart from making contributions to a number of charities and good causes, Swift also cares about her fans. According to official reports, she just made a $50,000 donation to a single fan – an 11 year old girl, named Naomi Oakes. Naomi is suffering from leukemia and since her family can’t pay the expensive medical bills for the girl’s fight with the disease, the Oakes family decided to ask the rest of the world for help. They set up a page on the crowdfunding website Go Fund Me and shared the girl’s story. In a short video Naomi and her family explain why the 11 year old needs help and how her biggest disappointment is actually the fact that she has to miss Swift’s concert in August for which she already got tickets back in December.
Surprisingly enough, Swift came across her fan’s video and was so moved by the fact that the 11 year old had chosen the hit single Bad Blood as her own “fight song” that she decided to donate to her cause. She even addressed Naomi’s frustration about not being able to attend the concert. Taylor reassured Naomi that she will get many more chances to see her perform live and that it was important to focus on getting better.
