Do you remember the good old floppy disk
we used to operate with before DVD disks and USB drives got in the picture? Do you feel like you haven’t used a floppy disk in ages?
It might come as a shock, but many kids these days haven’t seen a diskette live and to be honest, neither have we for quite some time. We don’t use them on our computers and we can’t even see them in stores anymore. But the shocking thing is that they were still around in the not so distant 2009. The Japanese tech giant Sony closed their production just few years ago. But in 2009 the corporation still managed to sell 12 million floppy disks. That’s right – 12 million diskettes in 2009! Only the company can tell where exactly they went and who could have needed so much floppy disks in a world of rapidly developing technology, but it’s a fact.
In the meantime, if you still hold on to those useless diskettes you bought back in the days, you can find a great number of DIY projects, which show amazing ideas for their usage.
