You’ll never believe what types of luxuries these prison inmates in Greenland have!
The country has a very liberal open prison system, whereby the prisoners aren’t locked up. The inmates have to pass regular alcohol and drug tests as well as report back about their activities and duties for several months and then they can have it all – work, school, walks out in the open, hiking, hunting hours… Not only that, but they also get to keep the keys to their own cells! That’s right; nothing says imprisonment like the freedom to walk away whenever you want to. The prisoners in Greenland are also allowed to use firearms whenever they go on hunting trips in order to shoot birds and other small prey.
How can this be possible? The country’s jail policy is open, because the government believes in respecting even the worst criminals and showing them some kind of courtesy.
