The former Soviet Union is trying to put a ban on swearing and cursing in movies.
According to official reports, the lower Russian parliament is trying to implement a ban that will forbid all bad words on TV shows, movies, concerts and even plays. According to the proposed ban, lawbreakers will face fines for using bad language. The lower parliament is trying to get the approval of the higher Russian parliament and President Putin. If they do, the ban could be effective as early as this July. And as if this doesn’t sound shocking enough, swearing will be forbidden for all bloggers. If the ban goes into effect, the most popular blogs (such as those that have 3,000 or more daily visitors) will also have to be purged of bad words. In addition to that, their authors will have to sign each of their posts with their actual names.
Goodbye, art of explicit swearing. Goodbye, creative nicknames. Goodbye, obscene language.
