A gigantic sinkhole emerged at the “end of the world”
Earlier this July, a pilot hovering over the Yamal Peninsula in Siberia, Russia, spotted a gigantic sinkhole.
The sinkhole’s diameter was estimated at 262 feet and the reason why it appeared out of nowhere is still a mystery. The bottom of the hole is still uncertain. Its location is in Yamal, which from Russian translates into “the end of the world”. This is causing some serious controversy among Internet users. Ever since the video clip showing the sinkhole from a bird’s point of view became viral, people all around the world have been making guesses as to the sinkhole’s origin. Some state that UFOs had something to do with it. Others believe it was the work of a meteor.
However, most likely the sinkhole was caused by an explosion. Since the area is known for high concentration of earth gas, it’s possible that a gas chamber exploded under the surface and created the hole. The burned edges of the soil around it also support this theory. However, the scientists are still trying to figure out the reason behind this phenomenon.
