University students from London South Bank have spent £20,000 on turning a boring old area of the university’s main block into a fake pub.
In order to study the relationship people have with alcohol, the psychology students have spent more than $33,000 in order to turn Room J-407 into a Big Brother-like room. The clients will be attended by undercover colleagues and each move will be captured on camera and analyzed in the nearby rooms. According to The Guardian, the fake pub is just like any other boozer apart from the fact that it’s actually fake. In order to convince the clients that it’s an actual pub pre-recorded chatter will be played through several hidden speakers. However, they won’t be served alcohol if they order a beer. According to the report, the drink will smell like alcohol, but it might as well be a placebo.
Jukebox, wire-loop games, a bar and other props are included in the $33,000 price of the fake pub.
