PS4 managed to score 36 million worldwide sales – an astonishing accomplishment next to the 18 million sales Xbox One made.
It might be called Xbox One, but it definitely isn’t number one.
Microsoft is refusing to release an official sales report of how well their Xbox One consoles are performing across the globe, but there are ways for figures to make their way to the public. Mary Jo Foley, an analyst, recently mentioned that the number of activated Xbox One products is around 18 million. This means that approximately 18 million people from all over the world bought and activated their Xbox One console, because in order for it to work properly, you need to register and activate it online. Apart from the activated ones, there are also nearly a million other sales of Xbox One consoles worldwide, which still haven’t been registered. In other words, over the course of 2 years Microsoft scored a little bit more than 18 million Xbox sales across the world.
However, Sony’s new PS4 console, which has been around since late 2013, has managed to kick Microsoft’s product to the curb with its impressive 36 million sales. The officials at Sony recently confirmed that their product has scored 36 million sales all over the world and that it’s performing better than expected. The PlayStation 4 can be found in stores all over the globe and it’s not that surprising that it’s managed to beat Microsoft’s console. PS4 and Xbox One made a nearly identical number of sales in the UK and the US, but the official reports are showing that gamers in Japan, Europe and the rest of the world prefer playing with Sony’s PlayStation 4 rather than Microsoft’s Xbox One.
Oh, well, at least it’s performing better than the previous Xbox 360.
