There are some very good news for all The Beatles fans. It has been reported recently that sir Paul McCartney is planning to buy back the rights to the famous Beatles back catalog in the next 5 years.
In 1985 the popular singer and guitarist lost the publishing rights to almost all his songs he had written with John Lennon. The one and only King of Pop music Michael Jackson was able to outbid Paul when the Associated Television Corporation’s back catalog was up for sale.
The US Copyright Act from 1976 gives Paul the right to regain his songs after 2018 which would be more than 56 years after he wrote them. Paul himself can’t wait for this day to come. He recently said that there isn’t anything more annoying in the world than having to pay to sing and play the very songs he wrote himself.
However, the legendary band The Beatles continues to make profit even today. They have been reported to have grossed over $43,5 million in 2012.
