Sean “Diddy” Combs is one of the most influential figures in modern day hip-hop and in the entertainment industry in general. He has successfully developed and produced the labels of various artists alongside with his own “Bad Boy Records”. Throughout his career he won numerous music and production awards for his outstanding music as well as launched his own clothing line and even opened up two restaurants.
However, before his rise to stardom he had quite a tough life. Sean Combs was born in the housing projects in the slums of Harlem, NYC after which he got raised in Mount Vernon, New York by his mother who was a model and an assistant teacher back then. His father Melvin Combs was a known associate of one of the biggest drug kingpins in the history of New York, Frank Lucas.
Puff Daddy (his original stage name) lost his father Frank during a shooting in Central Park at the young age of 3. Since that day on Sean has never talked about his delinquent father until recently when the star opened up in a video talking about living without a father figure his entire life. In the video the hip-hop star mentions his father by calling him “a scoundrel and a drug dealer”. Sean admits that having his father’s genes and competitive spirit he was able to become a prosperous businessman despite his parent’s unfortunate passing.
