It is safe to say that zombie culture has reached its peak over the last few years. From music to movies to merchandise, you can find zombies everywhere.
In 2013 a group of pranksters and supposed zombie fans decided to play a practical joke on the viewers of a Michigan and a Montana TV stations. They broke into regular programming and broadcast a false alert stating that “the bodies of the dead were rising from their graves and attacking the living”. The message also advised to not try to approach or apprehend the bodies as they were considered extremely dangerous. KRTVstation in Great Falls, Montana and WBUP and WNMU stations in Marquette, Michigan announced that the message was not real as their emergency alert systems had been broken into by hackers.
Previously in Portland, Main a digital road sign showed a message stating ‘Warning Zombies Ahead!’ instead of ‘Caution!’ after being changed by pranksters.
