US citizens consume up to 90 acres of pizza on daily basis
When you think of junk food, the first things that come to your mind are probably snacks, chips and fast food restaurants. However, the good old pizza is also considered junk food. And by the looks of it, Americans aren’t holding back on any pizza.
The origin of the pizza might be Italy, but it seems like US citizens are consuming much more pizza on daily basis than the amounts of pasta the Italians are consuming each day. The very first pizzeria that opened in The States is Lombardi’s Pizza and it has been serving the popular dish to its costumers since 1905. Nowadays there are more than 61, 000 pizzerias all over the USA. And if these numbers aren’t shocking enough, here’s a little known fact about the pizza consumption in The States: Americans actually eat up to 90 acres of pizza each day.
In other words, they consume up to 350 slices of the popular dish each second!
