A pioneering Finnish study has discovered that listening to music allows different functions of the brain to be surveyed. Various areas of the brain are involved in the process of listening to music such as those associated with emotions, motor actions and creativity, and not only auditory ones as it used to be assumed.
The method developed by Finnish researchers is very unconventional due to the fact, it was the first time real music was used to study the brain neural network, instead of music-resembling sound inducement. The innovative means of research is considered more reliable in providing sound knowledge about the way music is being processed in the brain. Scientists hope the newly found discoveries will help cure and even prevent different brain diseases.
