Michael John Douglas, better known for his stage name Michael Keaton, is one of America’s most popular actors up to date. He became popular in the 1980s and 1990s for his early roles in comedy films. His greatest and most notable acting performances that gained him international popularity are “Beetlejuice” as well as his epic portrayal of Bruce Wayne in “Batman” and “Batman Returns”. All three movies were a great success for their time and were directed by none other than Tim Burton.
A little known fact is that Keaton was supposed to portray Batman again in “Batman Forever”. He even reached the stage of trying out different costumes for the role of the caped crusader. All was fine until Tim Burton was fired as director of “Batman Forever” and got replaced by Joel Schumacher. After that Keaton decided to leave the franchise as well because he believed Shumacher’s screenplay was way too easygoing in tone. After Keaton refused the first time, he was reportedly offered the staggering sum of $15 million to reprise the role of Batman just one more time. Keaton stood his ground and firmly refused again before he was replaced by Val Kilmer.
