In a recent interview which was part of the DVD release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, the multimillionaire author JK Rowling admits that at one point she nearly killed off Ron Weasley from the series.
Even though she claims that she had decided from the beginning that all of the characters would live to the end of the series of bestselling books, at one point she felt a strong urge to “polish him off”. In the same interview, the British author admits that the reason for this was that she herself was “not in a happy place” at that moment in her life.
Rowling, who is worth more than 530 million pounds, seriously considered killing off Hermione’s love interest in the midst of the story. Had she done so, her prediction that “when 13 dine together, the first to rise will be the first to die” would have been correct because it was Ron Weasley who was first to leave the Christmas feast in the third year.
Potter fans around the world will be glad that she decided to spare the funny ginger haired character who is the favourite of so many.
