Police sergeants in Japan have bizarre ways of ‘toughening up’ their subordinates or at least one did. A traffic sergeant in Osaka had to step down from his position after it was revealed that he repeatedly violated his official rights.
The 40-year-old ex sergeant, whose name the Osaka police refused to reveal, admitted that he regularly forced four of his younger subordinates to binge on hamburgers, donuts, instant fried noodles and other types of food. The young officers had to eat as many as 15 donuts, 15 hamburgers and several cups of fried noodles on one sitting as the tormentor watched. He later explained stating that the four officers were not working hard enough so he was trying to ‘toughen them up’ by forcing them to eat huge amounts of food. Luckily, his actions were caught on tape by the security cameras so the alleged officer is no longer a part of the Osaka police force.
