The Hornsleth Deep Storage Project was created by Danish scientists and is meant to be executed in the end of 2013. The concept of the project involves descending series of sculpts into the Mariana trench which, with its 36,000 ft, is the deepest part of the world’s oceans. It is located approximately 200ft off Guam Island between the coasts of Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines.
The sculpts are going to be full of human hair and blood samples collected from more than 5,000 donors situated in 30 different locations all over the globe. The people who donated their DNA were given certificates to prove their contribution to the project. Hornsleth’s goal is for the samples to be used to bring humans and endangered species back to life in case of a disaster destroying life as we know it today.
If you want to participate in the project by donating a drop of your blood and 3-5 hairs, you can do it by either visiting one of Deep Storage Project events or buying a DIY kit online. The collections will carry one until mid November 2013.
