Sir Charles Bell who is 19th century a Scottish doctor was given the opportunity to first investigate and diagnose the condition more famous as “Bell’s Palsy”. This debilitating condition is known to cause partial and sometimes even full paralysis on only one side of the face. It has been calculated that only 1 out of 5,000 people develops this terrifying condition every year. Age of people being afflicted by the condition varies between 15 and 45 years old.
A very little known fact is that one of the world’s most attractive actors George Clooney suffered from Bell’s Palsy during his years in middle school. His face was half paralyzed and one of his eyelids was completely shut. George had great difficulty eating and drinking properly during the whole year he was recovering from the terrible condition. During his time in middle school he was mocked and taunted continuously by his peers. He even earned the nickname “Frankenstein” which made it one of the toughest times in his life.
Fortunately, the actor was able to make a full recovery and eventually became one of the world’s most recognized faces.
