The Target Corporation, the second largest retailer of discounted merchandise in US, recently experienced a real time cyber attack on its customers private data.
The corporation’s spokesperson confirmed that a massive cyber attack launched by unknown hackers may have affected over 40 million credit card instrument across all Target stores nationwide. If you have used your personal credit or debit card in the period from Nov. 27 to Dec. 15 you may be compromised to potential identity theft scam.
The company is not exactly sure how and what was stolen. They believe the hackers were able to access the software of the sales control systems either by uploading malicious malware or launching a phishing attack. The hackers were able to get their hands on to over 40 million credit card numbers including the security CVV codes, expiration dates and more.
