The first health-based study based on the link between a fast food diet and brainpower took place at Bristol University. The study examined the IQ score results of people who have been regularly fed fast food at an early age and of people who have had a healthy diet. The researchers found out that eating fast food might actually lower your IQ.
During the first 3 or 4 years of your life your brain is still developing. The researchers said that nutrition was extremely essential during that period, because it helped the brain develop.
Children, who were fed pizza, chips and other junk food couldn’t get enough nutrition when their brains’ growth was at its fastest pace. Thus, this could lead to lower brainpower later in their adulthood, even if they keep a healthy diet as adults.
The results showed that there was a 5 points difference in the IQ score between children who were fed fast food and other who were fed home-cooked meals, vegetables and fruit.
