The creative director of ‘Assassin’s Creed 3’, Alex Hutchinson, has stated publicly that each one of the victims killed by the protagonist finds their death in the exact location and at the exact time the actual historical figures, which the characters are based on, had lost their lives. As there is no sufficient evidence of people being assassinated by hooded murderers during the American Revolution era, when the game takes place, the cause of death might not be particularly correct. Yet, a research proves that the victims killed by Ezio or Altair correspond with historical records.
Hutchinson has explained that finding data about real people dying during the very period of the American Revolution has turned out quite difficult since there were no famous people who lost their lives then. As neither the founding fathers, nor any of the British generals died in a tragic way in those specific years, the team had to come up with other people involved in semi-legal deeds but since it was a newly established country, full of all kinds of criminals, there was plenty of material to choose from.
