David Copperfield is one of the world’s most famous magicians. His skills turned him into the most commercially successful illusionist of all time.
Several years ago the renowned magician and two of his female assistants were robbed after a performance in West Palm Beach, Florida. Copperfield, Cathy Daly and Mia Volmut were heading back to their tour bus when a car pulled up and the people in it barred the trio’s way. The people weren’t fans asking for autographs. They were muggers.
The assistants gave away their cash, passports, watches and cellphones. When the muggers demanded that Copperfield empty his pockets, he told them that they were already empty. The muggers didn’t believe him and told him to prove it. To their amazement, Copperfield was right – his pockets were indeed empty. What the robbers didn’t know was that the illusionist used a sleight of hand in order to hide his belongings from the muggers.
After the robbers took off, the trio alerted the police and few hours later the criminals were caught.
