Swedish researchers have now said that drinking coffee may help to protect women against breast cancer. This is in lieu of around 20 years worth of data which has been collected from over 40,000 women, with the data including information about daily intake of tea and coffee, as well as any other caffeine that they’ve taken in from their daily diet.
The shocking results are that those who’d had more than 5 cups every day, actually had 19% less risk of getting breast cancer than those who only had one or two cups a day. Of course, you do have to balance this against the consequences of having coffee, including the laxative nature, as well as potential addiction to caffeine.
However, despite this research, they haven’t been able to come up with solid reasons as to why this is the case, except that it potentially includes some of the antioxidants which protect the cells against the damage which then leads to cancer.
Not only have researched found that, but for those of you who suffer from anxiety, there could be something out there to help you. By conducting an experiment to do with fear or something, scientists were able to look at whether or not doxycycline, found in acne cream, can help reduce anxiety. The test subjects were subjected to induced fear memory, and by testing their pupil size and heart rate, they were able to measure whether the medicine had any effect on their fear. It’s thought that the drug could block those memories leading to fear, and therefore helping to reduce anxiety.
Also, for a long while now, many people, including many children, have suffered from bad tooth decay. However, that is hoped to change, with a new shell which helps to deliver the farnesol drug which combats the tooth decay. The shell sits on your tooth and applies the drug directly to it, meaning it isn’t instantly washed away by your saliva. Plaque was shown to decrease on teeth after using this ‘shell’.
