Chocolate might be able to save you from a stroke, according to a new research.
All our lives we’ve been listening to other people telling us how chocolate can be bad for us in a large variety of ways. However, it seems that it’s actually beneficial for our health, since it can lower the risk of a stroke or a heart disease.
Nearly 21,000 people took part in a fascinating study lead by a team of researchers in Norfolk, UK. The participants were tested for effects that long-term diets might have on their bodies and some of the results from this study turned out to be truly remarkable. You might find this quite shocking, but those patients, who ate chocolate on regular or even daily basis, had lower risks from suffering a stroke or a heart disease. How could that even be possible?
It is possible. People, who regularly ate chocolate, had a 23% reduced risk of suffering a stroke from those people, who ate no chocolate at all. Not only that, but the chocolate lovers also had a 9% reduced risk of getting hospitalized or dying from a coronary heart disease. Among the participants were people, who ate chocolate from time to time, people, who didn’t eat chocolate at all, and people, who would consume up to 100g on daily basis. According to the researchers, 10g of chocolate is the ideal portion of consumption per day.
Even though this new research might suggest that chocolate can save you from a stroke or a certain death caused by a coronary disease, it still doesn’t mean that you should change your diet and start eating as much chocolate as possible. In fact, if you’re overweight and you’re prone to having heart-related problems, you should actually stay awake from it. And last, but not least, the research doesn’t really prove that chocolate can save you and your heart.
