In 1962 Bruce Lee was attending YMCA meetings when a man started provoking him, the pushing continuing for months. Finally, Lee got fed up with it and agreed to a fight with the guy who did judo and karate, having a black belt in both. The fight was supposed to last for three rounds, each two minutes long, and finish when one of the opponents knocks down the other in two of the three rounds.
The fight between Lee and his opponent was held at the handball court at the YMCA with Lee’s first two students and later assistant instructors in US being the referee and the time keeper. Lee came to the fight wearing regular street clothes and held a Wing Chun stance while the other person was wearing a special fighting uniform, called keikogi, and held a karate stance. The opponent attacked first but Lee was able to swerve his kick and immediately punched the guy in the face several times. Bruce managed to escape the guy’s punches and hit him several times, giving him a nosebleed and knocking him out with a final kick. Glover and Hart stopped the fight which had lasted mere 11 seconds with Lee punching his opponent 15 times. Both his students thought Lee had killed the guy.
