The 2014 Grammy nominations that were announced last Friday brought up a lot of discussions. Two of the controversial artists that made headlines all year round failed to be recognized as Grammy material. Neither Miley Cyrus nor Kanye West got the number of nominations expected. The pop star’s latest album, ‘Bangerz’, was released too late to make the cutoff eligibility date but her hit songs ‘Wrecking Ball’ and ‘We Can’t Stop’ weren’t nominated either.
Kanye, on the other hand, did get nominated but in only two categories: Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song. It can be regarded as somewhat of a failure for the rapper as he was rumored to be a potential favorite for both Album of the Year and Song of the Year. Apparently, Kanye won’t be touting his Grammy honors this year.
Jay-Z turned up to be the most nominated artist even though he didn’t ink a spot at the most desired categories of Album and Song of the Year. Other Grammy nominees include Justin TImberlake, Bruno Mars and Lorde. The 2014 Grammy Awards will be held on January 26, 2014.
